About the Assignment
We are looking for a Strategic Buyer to support strategic sourcing and purchasing within a defined commodity area in the automotive industry. You will take an active role in driving cost reduction initiatives, shaping segment strategies, and building strong supplier relationships in a dynamic market environment.
The role suits someone who works independently, enjoys complex challenges, and can contribute to improvement and transformation initiatives such as digitalization and sustainability.
Job Description
- Initiate and drive strategic sourcing initiatives and cost reduction activities within the commodity area.
- Develop and implement segment strategies in your area of responsibility.
- Establish supplier relationship management processes and set continuous improvement goals and programs.
- Negotiate contracts and coordinate supplier integration plans with internal stakeholders.
- Monitor market dynamics affecting availability and pricing of materials and services.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing needs, develop buyer/market profiles, identify marketplace trends, and define acceptable service levels.
- Manage projects and processes with limited supervision.
- Coach and review the work of more junior colleagues when relevant.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing and/or strategic purchasing.
- Proven ability to drive sourcing initiatives, cost reduction, and supplier negotiations.
- Experience developing and implementing category/segment strategies.
- Experience with supplier relationship management and continuous improvement work.
- Ability to work independently in complex stakeholder and market contexts.
Nice to have
- Experience driving transformation initiatives related to digitalization and sustainability.
- Experience from Volvo.
