About the Assignment
You will help drive cost-down and cost-out initiatives for existing products and platforms, taking ideas all the way to industrialized solutions. The assignment is set in a manufacturing environment with serial production, where smart design decisions can reduce material cost, simplify production, improve assembly, and strengthen sourcing strategies. You will work close to purchasing, suppliers, and engineering stakeholders to find design improvements that balance cost, quality, manufacturability, and compliance. This is a strong fit for you if you enjoy turning technical insight into measurable product improvements with clear business value.
Job Description
- You will analyze product cost drivers such as materials, manufacturing methods, tolerances, assembly, and logistics, and turn those insights into optimized design solutions.
- You will redesign components and assemblies to reduce material cost, manufacturing complexity, number of parts, assembly time, and tooling and supplier cost.
- You will work closely with purchasing and suppliers to evaluate alternative materials, processes, suppliers, and sourcing strategies.
- You will support make-or-buy decisions, supplier transfers, and localization initiatives.
- You will create and release updated designs, drawings, and BOMs in the PLM system using tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Teamcenter, or similar.
- You will validate cost-down solutions through testing, risk assessment, and compliance checks.
- You will contribute to product improvements, quality actions, and root cause analyses where design and cost are closely connected.

- Proficiency in CAD and PLM systems such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Teamcenter, or similar.
- Experience working cross-functionally with manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers.
