About the Assignment

You will join a team building and evolving trading systems for investment funds in a backend-heavy, quality-focused environment. Here, testing is a central part of how reliable services are delivered, and you will play a key role in strengthening both automated and manual test practices across multiple initiatives.

This is a hands-on assignment for you who enjoy working close to development, DevOps, and product teams while shaping scalable test automation that can be reused over time. You will work with modern Java-based tooling, API testing, asynchronous flows, and CI/CD integration in a distributed system landscape. It is an exciting opportunity to influence how quality is built into a business-critical platform from the ground up.

Job Description

• You design and develop scalable, maintainable, and reusable test automation frameworks that support multiple projects.
• You automate functional, regression, and integration testing with robust scripts that increase coverage and reliability.
• You plan, design, and execute manual test cases for areas where automation is not yet practical, including exploratory testing.
• You collaborate closely with developers, DevOps, and product stakeholders to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• You prepare and manage test data, analyze results, and report defects in a clear and structured way.
• You improve test processes by maintaining and refining automated pipelines and by automating repetitive quality-related tasks.
• You contribute to testing of backend-heavy and distributed systems, including API-driven and event-based flows.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java 21+ for building automation scripts and frameworks.
• Experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate for integration and backend testing.
• Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, or similar tools for UI and API automation.
• Familiarity with REST Assured or similar for API testing.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and relational databases for validating data integrity.
• Understanding of Kafka, JMS, and MQ when testing asynchronous and event-driven systems.
• Knowledge of OpenAPI and AsyncAPI for generating and validating API tests.
• Hands-on experience with Git and Jenkins, or similar tools, for integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns for maintainable automation frameworks.
• Strong experience in manual testing of complex backend-heavy systems and distributed architectures.
• Ability to design clear and structured manual test cases and exploratory test charters.
• A holistic view of quality and an understanding of when manual testing adds value alongside automation.
• Good English communication skills.
