About the Assignment

You will join a technically advanced environment focused on the next generation of battery-electric mining equipment. In this role, you will help shape zero-emission heavy machinery by designing mechanical systems for EES products, with a strong focus on robust solutions that perform reliably in the field while also supporting cost-efficient production and assembly.

The work spans everything from compact and durable casings to stowing of high-voltage components, high-voltage distribution, electric infrastructure, and thermal management systems. You will mainly work with existing EES products, improving the current portfolio from both a robustness and manufacturability perspective. This is an exciting opportunity for you who want to work close to real products, harsh operating conditions, and engineering challenges with clear impact.

Job Description

• You will develop and maintain mechanical designs for EES products, including chassis layouts, battery enclosures, and cooling systems.
• You will design mechanical solutions for battery packs, power electronics, and charging systems, with attention to safety, isolation standards, and serviceability.
• You will create and validate heavy-duty structures built to withstand shock loads, vibration, abrasive environments, and continuous duty cycles in underground mining.
• You will design cooling and heating solutions for batteries, motors, and electronics.
• You will produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings, while managing BOMs and revision control throughout the product lifecycle.
• You will perform simpler structural calculations and verify CAD drawings and technical documentation.
• You will support prototype builds, mechanical and thermal testing, analyze outcomes, and refine designs based on results.
• You will help ensure designs meet requirements for ingress protection, corrosion resistance, fire safety, vibration resistance, and maintainability in confined environments.
• You will collaborate closely with fabrication teams and suppliers to secure manufacturable and cost-effective solutions.
• You will work cross-functionally with electrical, software, controls, battery engineering, hydraulics, and mining application specialists to deliver integrated machine solutions.

Requirements

• Experience in mechanical design for EES products or similar mechanical systems in heavy-duty applications.
• Ability to design mechanical solutions for battery enclosures, high-voltage component packaging, and electric infrastructure.
• Experience with thermal management design for batteries, motors, and electronics.
• Experience producing 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and maintaining engineering documentation, BOMs, and revision control.
• Ability to perform simpler structural calculations and validate technical solutions.
• Experience working with designs intended for harsh environments, including vibration, shock loads, corrosion, fire safety, and ingress protection.
• Ability to work closely with manufacturing teams, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering disciplines.
• Fluent English.
