Senior Data Scientist
Use Python and SQL to build decision-support models for electric vehicle lifecycle, pricing, and portfolio risk in a role where your work drives real business decisions.
About the Company
At Avaron, you get the security of permanent employment combined with the variety of working at different customers. We place specialists across everything from tech, IT and industry to project management and business support – and whatever the assignment, you have a consultant manager who is there for you and your development.
About the Role
You will help shape how electric vehicle assets are evaluated, priced, and managed across their lifecycle. In this role, you will turn complex operational and business data into analytical models and decision-support tools that support areas such as residual value, remaining useful life, lifecycle planning, pricing, and portfolio risk.
You will work close to both technical and business stakeholders in an environment where the questions are broad, the data is not always perfect, and your ability to create structure matters. This is a great opportunity for you who enjoy combining data science, business understanding, and practical engineering to build solutions that are credible, maintainable, and genuinely useful.
Job Description
- You will develop and maintain models for usage, remaining useful life, residual value, pricing, lifecycle forecasting, and portfolio risk.
- You will translate vehicle and business data into clear recommendations that support real decisions.
- You will define, test, and document assumptions, limitations, and uncertainty in your models.
- You will build analytical prototypes, simulations, dashboards, APIs, and other decision-support tools.
- You will collaborate with data engineering to improve data reliability, data quality checks, and trustworthy outputs.
- You will help productionize models through scheduled jobs, cloud functions, APIs, tests, versioning, and monitoring where relevant.
- You will support discussions with stakeholders across customer, finance, sales, product, and partner-facing areas through clear data-driven analysis.
- You will take ownership in ambiguous problem areas and help drive work forward in a small team with broad responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, economics, or a related field.
- Strong Python skills for modelling, data analysis, testing, and production-quality code.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with analytical data platforms.
- Experience building models or analytical tools that support real business decisions.
- Experience taking ownership from business problem to analysis, model, implementation, and stakeholder adoption.
- Cloud experience, such as deploying or operating data products, APIs, scheduled jobs, model services, or similar workloads.
- Ability to work with imperfect data and make sound judgements about data quality, assumptions, and business impact.
- A practical engineering mindset and the ability to move from analysis to working tools or services.
- Clear communication with both technical and business stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with electric vehicles, batteries, telematics, battery health, remaining useful life, leasing, residual value, or asset management.
- AWS experience.
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, versioning, or monitoring.
- Experience with pricing, forecasting, financial modelling, risk metrics, or portfolio analytics.
- Experience building internal tools, dashboards, simulations, model APIs, or decision-support applications.
