About the Role
You will join a pilot-scale fermentation environment focused on new food technology, where laboratory work plays a key role in preparing, running, and supporting trials. In this role, you will work closely with trial leaders, bioprocess engineers, and process specialists to help ensure that fermentation runs are executed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
This is a hands-on role for you who enjoy combining microbiology, biotechnology, and practical lab operations in a production-oriented setting. It is an interesting opportunity to contribute in a technically advanced pilot facility where your work directly supports the success of fermentation trials.
Job Description
- You will prepare seed cultures for fermentation and cultivation media for pilot-scale trials.
- You will work with sterile handling of media and cultures and operate laboratory equipment such as autoclaves.
- You will identify microorganisms using microscopy and Gram staining.
- You will take samples from bioreactors during fermentation runs and perform laboratory analyses.
- You will work with analytical techniques such as UV/Vis spectrophotometry, Dry Weight measurements, SDS-PAGE, and protein analysis.
- You will write risk assessments and SOPs and help ensure that safety procedures are followed in daily work.
- You will support routine laboratory administration, including environmental monitoring, equipment maintenance, cleaning, stock control, chemical inventory management, and ordering of chemicals.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or similar
- Minimum five years of experience from a biotechnical pilot- or industrial production facility
- Knowledge of food safety and hygienic procedures, as well as experience from the food industry
- You are well acquainted with aseptic handling techniques
- Experience of safety procedures and good laboratory practice
- Fluent Swedish and English
