About the Role
You will take a key role in strengthening transaction monitoring models in a Nordic banking environment, where financial crime prevention depends on robust model development, validation and governance. The role sits close to both analytics and control functions, giving you the chance to combine deep quantitative work with practical decision-making and clear documentation. You will help move model governance forward within the Transaction Monitoring Unit while shaping how models are reviewed, challenged and improved. Job Description
- You will lead the development and validation of transaction monitoring models, with a strong focus on review, documentation and governance.
- You will drive model governance activities within the Transaction Monitoring Unit, including validation assessments and implementation of 2nd line feedback.
- You will set direction for model development and experimental design, balancing analytical rigor with practical constraints.
- You will document model design and outcomes, and work closely with the analytics team to assess assumptions, limitations and weaknesses.
- You will provide hands-on support in prototyping tests and analytical methodologies.
- You will help design, test and implement model SOPs, including data lineage and governance, tuning and calibration, and monitoring of model operations and outcomes.
- You will mentor colleagues in the analytics team and contribute to a stronger way of working across the function.
- You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and represent the organisation with professionalism and clarity.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in model risk management, model governance, and validation
- Strong background in data science, statistics and quantitative methods
- Experience in academic or technical writing, particularly in the context of model documentation
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
- You work in a structured, professional and proactive way and are comfortable taking initiative under your own direction
- You communicate clearly and assertively, and can set direction and create results in a changing environment
- Fluent English
Nice to have
- Experience in Financial Crime/AML, for example within transaction monitoring or related technology suppliers
- Experience with transaction monitoring platforms such as Quantexa
- Experience as a model validator or quantitative risk analyst
